The giraffe are pretty cool mammals. They are the tallest land mammals on earth. They can peak through a second story home, because they can grow 14ft for females. The males can grow up to 18ft.

Giraffes are kind of like humans. They don’t wear shirts, but they have 7 bones similar to us. Do you have neck bones? Yeah you do and so do giraffes. People and giraffes have 7 neck bones. People bones are smaller, but giraffes bones can be over ten inches long.

Usain Bolt is the fastest person ever. He runs the 100 meter at 28 mph. Giraffes run at 35 mph. Speed is not the only thing they do to protect themselves against lions and crocodiles. Giraffes have a deadly karate kick.

Giraffes only need to drink water once every few days because they are always eating. They love to eat Acacia leafes. Acacia leaves contain water and that is why giraffes only drink water once a day. Giraffes live in the savanna of Africa.

 Giraffes spend most of their life standing up, they even sleep and give birth wile standing up.  Baby giraffes are called calf.

The black rhinoceros is also called the hook-lipped rhinoceros because his top lip is pointed.

They are almost extinct in the wild because people kill them for their horns.
