Presentation transcript:

The present tense is used to talk or write about events that happen now or normally. The Present Tense

To form the present tense in German you just need to follow 3 simple steps. Step 1:choose the subject, i.e. The person doing the action. ich du er sie es wir ihr Sie sie Step 2: choose the infinitive of the verb you want to use and remove the -en Step 3: add the appropriate ending.

There are some strong verbs that dont follow this pattern all the time. These strong verbs follow the pattern in all forms except the du, er,sie and esforms. The difference is normally a vowel change. e.g. An a changes to äe.g. Ich fahre, du fährst, er fährt An e changes to ie or just an i e.g. Ich sehe, du siehst, er sieht or ich gebe, du gibst, er gibt

There are two verbs you must know and they follow no pattern at all. haben Ich habe du hast er hat sie hat es hat wir haben ihr habt Sie haben sie haben Sein ich bin du bist er ist sie ist es ist wir sind ihr seid Sie sind sie sind
