MR. ENDICOTT PERSONAL CAREER PLANNING CLASS How To Get Your Dream Job- Peter Liebaman

Step 1: Start- No excuses Youth Excuse- Lemonade Stand Principle- old people like to help students Pedigree Excuse- Smarter people get the job- 4.0 students, etc… Hired because of attitude Companies hire people not resumes There are a lot of haters and doubters

Step 2: Identify What do you want. Don’t broadcast-focus. Who do you admire and why? If you could help any group, what is it? What energies you have that could assist to solve it? What problem do you want to solve? What is easy for you & not for others? Sometimes you take a strength for granted.

Step 3-Make Over Looks Matter- not phony/lazy - people will judge you Take pride in way you present How do you stand out in a stack of resumes? Don’t be in the stack. Go talk to someone and be honest! Follow Up! 70% jobs are not posted Employers want to hire through referrals * Don’t look for jobs-look for people!

Step 4 - Plan What if I don’t know anybody? Yes you do. Bosses, customers, classmates, SU friends, and family members Make a list of 100 people- Look for hidden contacts Best way to break into a competitive field? Join Organizations and Event Associations Linked In is for everyone Pick out groups-NJ/NY/CA

Step 5- Look Go where you want to go. Location-Location- Location Tell people exactly where you want to go Don’t look desperate. Know what you want Be clear in what you are looking for Be prepared for the interview

Step 6- Execute Be prepared Why do you want the job? Questions- Why us?- Why you?- Have to answer these questions no matter what Click here for videohere
