Jabalis: is a medium-sized mammal. It has a very big head, a thick neck, small eyes, and very short legs. Its view is very bad but it can hear very well. Its hair is black, but it can change, it could be grey too. It lives in groups of three or four.

Hares: They are very fast moving. The European Brown Hare can run at speeds of up to 72 Km./h. Hares live solitarily or in pairs. The European Brown Hare changes its behaviour in spring, when hares can be seen in broad daylight. During this spring frenzy, hares can be seen "boxing"; one hare striking another with its paws. For a long time it had been thought that this was inter-male competition, but closer observation has revealed that it is usually a female hitting a male

Capercaillie: also known as the wood grouse is the largest member of the grouse family, its measure is over 100 cm and can weight 4 Kg. Male and female Capercaillie can be discriminated easily by their size and colouration. The male is much bigger, weighing 4.3 Kg. and ranging up to 6.3 Kg. The body feathers are coloured dark grey to dark brown, breast feathers are dark green metallic shining. The female is much smaller, weighing about half as much as the male. Her body from beak to tail is approximately cm long, the wingspan is 70 cm and she weighs about 2 Kg. Both sexes have a white spot on the wing bow. Additionally, they wear black crown feathers. At an age of about three months, in late summer, they change their feathers. The eggs are about the same size and shape as chicken eggs.

Bears: are mammals. There are only eight living species of bear. Common characteristics of modern bears include a large body with strong legs, a long snout, long and brown hair and a short tail. They are predators, they normally eat fish but sometimes they eat honey. Two very important bears in Asturias are Paca and Tola, they are in place called “La Senda Del Oso”

VALLEY OF THE BEARS The Trubia valley in Asturias is a increase of reproductive female Cantabrian brown bears, the species having almost disappeared completely from this area. In 2004 one female of breeding age was detected. Of the sixteen individual bears identified here in 2007, two were females. In the next few months it is hoped to confirm the existence of either two or three females that could have produced cubs this year. There are two very important and famous bears living here called Paca and Tola.
