Areas of food sufficiency Explain how changes in agricultural systems, scientific and technological innovations, the expansion of the area under agriculture and the growth of agribusiness have increased the availability of food in some areas, starting with the Green Revolution and continuing since.

Debate - Are economic factors responsible for food shortages? Two opposing viewpoints: Yes, economic factors are the main cause of food shortages (although we acknowledge that some other factors do have a part to play) VS Economic factors have some bearing but there are other factors that are more responsible for food shortages Use your notes on food sufficiency/deficiency as well as the graphs (fig 10.6, p.263) to help you.
