Qualifications Hierarchy

Hierarchy of uclan Degree Codes recorded in STVDEGC_LEVEL_ONE field (not shown on Form) HESA hierarchy of HEQs recorded in SKASSDT Process assesses the student’s Qualification Aim (SORLCUR_DEGC_CODE) against her/his HEQ (SKBHINS_SSDT_CODE_QUAL) using their hierarchy values

For we made the collection of a Highest Entry Qualification mandatory as part of the OnLine enrolment process. The ELQ process is triggered, along with fee assessment by this action so the higher fee can be displayed during the online enrolment process. Capture of HEQ from Students This Qualification type grouping is set up using SKVSSDT The HEQ set of values are linked to Qualification type groups through DATA 2 on SKVSSDT

Process detail 1.Normally eligible (ELQ rule 1) Home/EU not PG Research 2.Student exempt (Exempt rule 1) Disability allowance 3.Programme exempt (Exempt rules 2-8)Programme exempt Various 4.ELQ using Hierarchy? Used in the exemption rules processing Fundcode is used to determine if programme is funded by NHS Subject Codes are used to determine programme’s registerable qualification status Used to determine if programme is ITT or in-service TT course Return to PFD Used to record programme’s Regulatory Body

Block additional Fee for student on SKAHINS New flag created to record where an ELQ student should be charged the standard fee, in line with prior quote Return to PFD

ELQ Fee Rules in SFARGFE Fee Rule created for students with an ELQ Rate Code

Reporting HEFCE/HESA Fees reporting ODS changes –New views AZ_ELQ_HIERARCHY AZ_STUDENT_INSTANCE_YEAR –Amended views AZ_PROGRAMME_TERM_DETAIL –OWB ETL Mappings

Issues Lack of clarity from HESA on Qualifications Hierarchy e.g. Masters Last minute changes in exemption rules Suitability of HESA HEQ hierarchy Exempt Regulatory Bodies currently hard-coded in process

Future Plans Develop mechanism to advise Enquirers & Applicants of Funding Status and Fees Alterations to reflect revised uclan policy for 2009/10 Review hierarchies to ensure appropriateness Develop table/form to facilitate user maintenance of exempt Regulatory Bodies
