WHY DID I CHOOSE COSMETOLOGY?  I have always experimented on my own hair.  I like to help people.  Allows me to express creativity  I have always wondered if this is the career path for me.

THESIS AND TOPICS Thesis: Through the years American women's appearance has changed dramatically due to social and political issues that, in turn, made women change and rebel. The profession and technology of cosmetology made it possible for women to fully alter their appearance in just a few hours. As the profession evolved, dying and styling hair became more popular. Today cosmetology is a very successful multi-billion dollar industry, and the future of this profession is looking very bright. History of Hairstyles Technology Business Aspect/ Future

INTERESTING FACTS  The first cosmetologist were considered to be ancient hunters who masked their human scent with animal urine. They also covered their faces with mud to protect themselves from the elements.  Maybelline is named after the founder’s sister, Maybel, and the brand name Vaseline. Petroleum jelly was an active ingredient in their first mascara.  Ancient Greeks used Leech feces to dye their hair black.

MENTOR Madeline Hirsh was my mentor. She taught me how to correctly curl hair, taught me a few braiding techniques, and has helped me with my product. She attends AB Tech and she is also my co-worker. I have really enjoyed working with her through out my project.
