1913 Named Assistant Secretary of Navy *He’s an important person in the Navy.

1921 Diagnosed with Polio * He was treated for polio, although some doctors today think he may have had a different illness.

1928 Elected Governor of New York He wrote conservation bills to help protect the environment.

1932 Elected 32 nd President of the United States of America. Helped the poor and the homeless to make our country a better place with a plan called The New Deal.

1941 Asked Congress to declare war on Germany and Japan They had the war because the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.
