Write the nouns… New Mexico achieved statehood in the early twentieth century. Santa Fe is the capital of this southwestern state It is the oldest and highest United States capital. The first European explorers here were Spanish. Before the Spanish Colonists arrived, the Pueblo lived there peacefully. The western end of the famous Santa Fe Trail was there. The trail extended from Missouri to Mexico It was a popular trade route for much of the nineteenth century. Tourism is important to the economy of the state. Santa Fe has many interesting attractions. One popular attraction is the Palace of the Governors It is recognized as the oldest public building in the nation.
