Academics are experts

Read widely: academic papers and the news

What’s a lecture? Lectures are a live experience – you need to be present Lectures are never just what is on the slide Courses are never just what is said in lectures Lectures are the starting point for your own independent research

What’s a seminar? What’s an advisor?

Why do emails matter?

First year counts

What is feedback?

Next Lecture: Friday 2nd October: 11-12 University Place Theatre B Core Text: Cunliffe, A. L. (2014). A very short, fairly interesting and reasonably cheap book about management.
