HISTORY South Bay Vocational Center was founded in 1952 by a group of parents with special needs children. South Bay Vocational Center, a 501c3 charitable nonprofit corporation, now provides programs and services to approximately 200 adults with disabilities.

MISSION South Bay Vocational Center’s mission is to provide vocational training, job development assistance, advocacy and counseling service for adults who are developmentally and/or physically disabled and/or whom such services would provide vital assistance.

GOAL South Bay Vocational Center clients and staff strive for excellence in every aspect of the organization by producing quality product and services that our customers want and need.

WORK ACTIVITY CENTER ENTRANCE CRITERIA 6.You are able to communicate wants and needs. 7. You are able to follow simple directions. 8. You are able to maintain a level of self control. 2. You are a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the U.S. 3. You are medically cleared to participate in a work activity program. 4. You are able to attend to personal needs independently. 5. You are ambulatory and/or independently mobile. Applicants considered for admission must meet the following criteria: 1. You are eighteen years of age or older.

WORK ACTIVITY CENTER PEOPLE WORKING TOGETHER….

WORK ACTIVITY CENTER STAFF Provides on-going training support and supervision on a variety of tasks such as: Assembly Packaging Heat Sealing Labeling Etc. Shrink and Skin Wrapping

WORK ACTIVITY CENTER The Work Activity Center provides vocational training and work experience on site. These skills are developed in our light manufacturing plant called South Bay Packaging & Assembly.

PERSONAL AND SOCIAL ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM OVERCOMING BARRIERS

P.S.A.P ENTRANCE CRITERIA Applicants considered for admission must meet the following criteria: 1.18 years of age or older. 2.Medically cleared to participate in a work activity program. 3.Sufficiently trained in attending personal needs. 4.Ambulatory and/or independently mobile. 5.Able to attend to and respond to simple directions. 6.Able to maintain a reasonable amount of self control.

SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM WORKING TOGETHER IN THE COMMUNITY….

SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM The Supported Employment Program is an employment option that enables individuals with developmental disabilities to work in integrated settings in the community. This program provides job development on the job training, and support services necessary for job retention.

INTENSE DAY TRAINING PROGRAM The clients that attend the Intense Day Training Program are the clients that need intense training on assembling multiple tasks and clients that need close monitoring of their work behavior.
