What is characterization? Characterization- method by which an author creates the appearance and personality of imaginary people and objects

Why characterize characters? Gives the reader a clear picture of what's happening in the story Necessary to make the characters seem alive Evoke emotion from the reader, viewer

Assignment Create a colored illustration of one of the characters (Ponyboy, Soda, Darry, Dally, Cherry, Johnny, and Two-Bit Matthews based on the descriptions given in Ch.1-2 in The Outsiders.
