Summarizer

A giant had a beautiful garden, but he was so selfish that he didn’t want to share the garden with the children. Because of his selfishness, he got the punishment. The spring never came to his garden, and his garden is full of north wind and snow that kind of stuff. In the end, he realized that opening his heart to share with children could make his garden more beautiful and happier. The spring finally came again.

Illuminator

 When he came quite close, his face grew red with anger, and he said,” who dare to wound thee?” For on the palms of the child’s hands were prints of two nails. (71) I like this paragraph because it shows a true friend’s heart. When one’s friend gets hurt, one would be angry, and wants to help his/her friend. The Giant might be a little uncivilized, but he just wanted to protect his friend.

I like my things look clean and clear, especially my books. I hate dirty papers, and won’t like the person who break my books, either. So only a few people is brave enough to borrow books from me. My friend, Tina, who reads lots of books and has many good friends, is always glad to lend books to others though the books won’t come back safety every time. I finally found out what my fault was, just like the selfish Giant, the end to selfishness will lead to loneliness. So I do my best to ignore the dirt on the book-paper.

The selfish Giant took down the wall, and shared his garden with kids. It made his garden more beautiful and happier than others. I connected to a new that an old man who is not rich at all, but he donates money to poor every month. He said that he wants people to have the same joy of life. As long as he is able to live, he will keep sharing. Sharing makes people happy.

Discussion Director

 Sometimes we don’t want to share things with others not because selfish but want to protect our own stuff. Being worried about maybe they will break it, we want to be friendly at the same time. What is the difference between them? How can we do to share things with others happily? Just take it easy. Most of the times friendship is much more important than your own little stuff.

 Why the children dared to trespass the giant’s garden? I think it’s because the children enjoyed playing in the garden very much, so they were brave enough to dig a hole on the wall and creep into the garden. Or it’s because the angel couldn’t bear to see the giant live unhappily forever, so he made the children entered.
