Awards Night Thursday, May 22 6:30 Shawnee Mission West Auditorium

Academic Awards  7 th and 8 th grade students who have had all A’s for the first 3 quarters this year will receive the 3 Quarter All A Award.  8 th grade students who have had all A’s for all 7 quarters they have been at Westridge will receive the 7 Quarter All A Award.  8th graders can only receive one of these awards.  8 th grade students who have had a 3.5 or above grade point average for their 2 years combined here at Westridge will receive the Presidential Academic Award as well as a pin.  7 th and 8 th grade students who have had a 3.5 or above grade point average for all 3 quarters this year will receive the Scholarship sticker on their general award certificate.  8 th grade students can only receive one of these awards

Merit Awards  Teachers nominate one or two students who they feel have really worked hard and embodied the Westridge Way all year this year.  These students will have a Merit sticker on their certificate. In the program, they can see which department nominated them.  All students nominated for Merit Awards are then eligible for the Citizenship Award, which is voted on by the whole staff.

Volunteer Service Award  Students who have submitted their service hours to Ms. Larvie will receive their Volunteer Service Award and pin on Awards Night.

Other Recognitions  Students will get a sticker on their general certificate indicating their participation in the following: Spelling Bee Winner Peer Mediator Student Ambassador PTA Citizenship Contest Winner Student Council Thespian Society Lunch Helper Sportsmanship (students involved in EVERY intramural, and/or on a team that went to district finals) Drug Free Club Science Fair and R&D Forum Life Smarts Team Future Problem Solvers Team PTA Reflections Contest Winner Science Olympiad Team All State Choir Member Kindest Kansas Citian Essay Finalist Social Studies Brain Bowl Team Site Council

 If you participated in one of those activities, or feel that your grades should have warranted an academic award, and you didn’t get an invitation, please see Miss Jenkins in room 7 before or after school.  If you got an invitation, but you think it is incorrect (you should be getting an award not marked, your name is misspelled, etc.), please see Miss Jenkins in room 7 before or after school.  DO NOT go to Miss Jenkins during class unless she is your teacher!! She will just send you back to class.  If you cannot get to Miss Jenkins’ room, your parents or you can her at any time.  Please let her know of any issues before Monday, May 19 so that she can make sure that everyone gets the awards they have earned on Awards Night!
