UCAS: PERSONAL STATEMENT OF ULSTER ULSTER BLOCKBUSTERS How to play? The Ulster Blockbusters game is an interactive way to raise awareness of higher education/university terminology and all things ‘University of Ulster’. This may include our courses, campuses, extra and co-curricular activities, student life and other aspects such as UCAS and student finance. Knowledge required: Specific phrases or vocabulary about HE / University of Ulster. Useful as: starter (if recapping from previous session), reinforcement of expressions. It can be used as a stand alone activity, or a ‘refresher’ following a visit by Ulster. Medium/platform: MS PowerPoint Equipment required: Blockbusters Grid (MS PowerPoint File) and Question and Answer sheet (MS Word file) How to play the game: Divide your class into two teams. One team needs to connect the top of the grid to the bottom. The other team need to connect the left-hand side of the grid with the right. The hexagons contain the initial letter of the answer. Teams take it in turn to select a hexagon. The facilitator asks the question for that hexagon, and a member of team attempts to answer. The winning team is the first to complete the connection.
