 Deforestation is the cutting of trees in a major forest without them being replanted.  Rainforests are cut for logging, fuel-wood, mining and industry, tourism, and agriculture.  Without the trees in place the area around the rainforest is subject to erosion, loss of life, and desertification.

 Rainforests are disappearing at about 80 acres/min (about one and a half acres a second)  Rainforest once covered 14% of earths surface, now they cover 6%.  Two and a half acres of rainforest could contain 750 types of trees.  More than 20% of world oxygen is world atmosphere is cleaned in rainforests.

 Rainforests are cut for logging, fuel-wood, mining and industry, tourism, and agriculture.  Erosion, destruction of animal habitats, absence of windbreaks, contribution to global warming, and loss of carbon-scrubbing trees are all dangers of deforestation.

 Rainforests (and all forests) are usually turned into deserts after they’re chopped down.  This affects all the people and animals that live near the past forest because the environment may change drastically.  The loss of trees can cause a loss of humidity, an increase of temperature, a displacement of animals, and a loss of water and air sources for the surrounding area.
