Vocabulary Function: Range: Domain: Decreasing function: Increasing function: Dependent variable: Independent variable:

Vocabulary cont. Relation: Discrete: Linear function:

Vocabulary Function: a relation that uniquely associates members of one set with members of another set. Range:The area of variation between upper and lower limits on a particular scale. Domain: the set of all possible input values which allows the function formula to work.

Vocabulary Defined Decreasing function: function where the y value decreases as the x value increases Increasing function: function where the y value increases as the x value increases Dependent variable: a variable in a function whose valued is determined by the values assumed by other variables in the relation Independent variable: a variable in a function whose value determines the value or values of other variables

Vocabulary Defined cont. Relation: relationship between sets of information or numbers Linear function: a first degree polynomial of one variable. Huh?

By the Sea Handout Follow directions carefully What does the shape represent? Work problems 1-5 individually Work problems 6-11 in groups of 3. (each person must do work.)
