Dark outdoor shoes (NOT trainers or fashion shoes). Blue and white checked or striped dresses for summer wear. Plain white, navy or grey socks/tights. All clothing should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. If earings are worn they should be small studs and must be removed/taped over for P.E. Please make sure your child has suitable plasters with them if this is the case. Should length hair or longer must be tied back.

P.E. Kit If a pupil is unfit to participate in a PE lesson they are still expected to bring and change into, PE kit. However a note from their parent/guardian will allow them to participate in an appropriate role, be it as coach, scorer, umpire/referee or peer evaluation. Pupils who fail to bring the correct PE kit will be given a verbal warning in the first instance; on the second occasion they will be put onto amber; a third occasion will warrant a letter being sent home to their parent(s).

Swimming KS2 will swim at Ripon Spa Baths, a contribution to transport for these lessons must be paid via ParentPay Children will need trunks/swimming costume (not shorts/bikinis) and a swimming hat to swim Dates and times of each year group will be circulated in September

Reading 10 minutes daily reading can drastically improve children’s fluency and comprehension. We have an expectation that children will read regularly at home and record their reading in their reading record. Class teachers will check planners weekly and will discuss reading habits with parents.

Reading At Boroughbridge we use a fully decodable reading scheme, children still working within banded books will take home a ‘scheme’ book weekly Children who have reached white level are ‘free readers’ and may choose their reading books from the school library Children are responsible for changing their own reading books
