Wednesday, February 15, 5:00 p.m. NWS forecast update NWS forecast update – Storm system becomes a “cut off” low. – System will linger over the southwest until Monday, February 20th – Ability to produce 5 to 6 inches of rain. – Flash flood watch issued for Arizona and southern California. Reservoirs and Lakes Reservoirs and Lakes – Authorities announce the release of water from reservoirs and lakes in Arizona, New Mexico, and Sonora, Mexico. – Flood Warnings issued for San Pedro, Gila and Salt Rivers, and the Santa Cruz Wash. MODULE 2 – Flood Imminent

Thursday, February 16, Afternoon Situation update Situation update – Storm system is centered over the area between Yuma and Lake Havasu. – Agencies along the Colorado River are reporting localizing flooding. – Rain begins to fall in western Pinal County. Road Closures Road Closures – 6 p.m. water begins to flow in small washes throughout the county. – Local Public Works agencies and ADOT have begun road closures at non-bridged crossings. MODULE 3 – Flooding Saturday, February 18, 3:00 p.m. Situation Update Situation Update – Pima County Flood Control announces the Santa Cruz Wash will reach flood stage levels in two hours. – Towns of Mammoth, Winkelman, Hayden and Kearny begin to evacuate the lower portions of their communities adjacent to the San Pedro and Gila Rivers. They are also requesting additional sandbags and barricades. – Queen Valley Fire and Apache Junction Fire Districts are requesting additional supplies for sandbags. North Branch of the Santa Cruz Wash North Branch of the Santa Cruz Wash – At 3:30 p.m., ADOT, Casa Grande and Pinal County Public Works Departments have closed all road crossings across the North Branch of the Santa Cruz Wash. This includes Pinal Avenue, Trekell Road and Maricopa/Casa Grande Highway.

Saturday, February 18 - It was a dark & stormy night... Highway Closures Highway Closures – Due rising water in the Santa Cruz, I-8 is closed between I-10 and Stanfield Road. – Due to rising water in the Gila River, St. Rt. 347 is closed north of Maricopa. Power outage Power outage – At 5:30 p.m., an auto accident causes a power outage in the downtown area of Casa Grande. – Affects Casa Grande City Hall, Police Station & Fire Station #1 and the flood control pumps in Peart Park and the under pass at St. Rt. 84 and the railroad tracks. MODULE 3 – Flooding, continued

Evacuations Evacuations – At 8 p.m. a Pinal County Sheriff’s Deputy reports debris have accumulated against the south side of the railroad bridge over the Santa Cruz Wash in Maricopa. – Water from the Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa Washes are spilling over and flowing west along the south side of railroad tracks. – Tohono O’Odham Community is evacuating residents from ChuiChu. MODULE 3 – Flooding, continued 1993 flooding of the Santa Cruz Wash. Sheriff’s Office begins to evacuate portions of Arizona City. – Sheriff’s Office begins to evacuate portions of Arizona City.

Monday, February 20, 9 a.m. NWS forecast NWS forecast – Higher pressure system has pushed the storm northeast into New Mexico and Colorado. – The seven day forecast indicates clear skies for the southwest. Recovery Recovery – Water is receding and infrastructure damages is being assessed. – Home and business owners are asking when can they enter the affected flood areas. – Citizens are asking what assistance might be available. MODULE 4 – Post Flooding
