Molecular=Covalent Molecular compounds contain covalent bonds Nonmetal-Nonmetal Since there are no ionic charges, no way to know the formula unless it is indicated in the name Use prefixes

Prefixes 1 mono 2 di 3 tri 4 tetra 5 penta 6 hexa 7 hepta 8 octa 9 nona 10 deca The prefix represents the number of atoms in the formula (the subscript) Change the ending of the second element to –ide Example N2O5 Dinitrogen pentoxide **Only exception- leave off the prefix mono on the first element in the compound
