T.H. Bell This Moment... We Own It!!!

How can you make this year a successful one?

Do these things and you will have a great school year!

 Be in school every day (on time) To do well in school, you must have good attendance.  Believe in yourself Having a positive attitude is very important. See yourself succeeding!  Set personal and academic goals Set both short-term goals (get an A on tomorrow’s math test) and long- term goals (get a 3.0 GPA 1 st term).

Start off (and stay) organized

Have a system to keep track of all notes, papers, homework, and assignments Try using a single binder with separate sections for each class If you need help getting organized, ask a teacher

The planner you get today can help you stay organized... If you use it!!! Take it with you to every class Use it to keep track of assignments, test dates, etc.

 Manage your time well Use any extra time you have in class/school to get started on homework. Create a study plan that works for you.  Get help when you need it If you need help or have questions, please talk to your teachers. We are here to help you. T.H. Bell also has after school homework help from 2:35 until 3:30 in room 2E with Mrs. Rampton. Remember, you will need to find your own way home.

 Be successful in the classroom Have everything you need when you go to class If you need help getting supplies, please let your teacher know ALWAYS do your homework Participate in class Treat others with courtesy and respect Learn how to adapt to different teachers Know each teacher’s class rules and requirements

 Make good choices and decisions Make sure that your choices and decisions are consistent with your goals and values.

Student Planner Each student at T.H. Bell has been given a planner this year. Please put your name on the inside of the planner in addition to the label on the front. If you find a lost planner, turn it into the main office or counseling center windows. Students will NOT be given replacements for lost planners.

Use Your Planner to Keep Track of the Following:  Important Dates  Daily Assignments  Tests and Quizzes  Large Assignments and Projects  Activities and Appointments  Social Activities

Use This Planner to Keep Track of the Following:  Important Dates You can find many important dates in your student handbook. Write down the beginning and end of each term Also write down the days that school gets out early or starts late, or when school will be closed for holidays and vacations. These include: Late Start & Early Out Days Parent/Teacher Conferences Thanksgiving, Christmas, & Spring breaks

 Daily Assignments Write your schedule down under “subject” Write assignments under the date it’s assigned Write down the date the assignment is due Use the “Notes” section to remind you of things happening next week

 Daily Assignments Check assignments off when they are completed

 Tests and Quizzes Put a star beside all tests and quizzes

 Large Assignments and Projects Use this planner to break large assignments down into smaller ones: Example: English Research Paper due Oct. 14: Oct. 4 – do research Oct. 6 – finish first draft Oct. 11 – write final paper Oct. 14 – turn in final draft

Make This Year Great The first three pages of your planner have these and more ideas on how to help you make this year great!

Take this planner with you to every class and take it home with you each night.
