Getting Ahead Why is it beneficial to start teaching your children early Amy Marie Seaman

Introduction It is critical for children to begin their education at an early age. They must begin at home with their parents and families and then venture on to preschool and kindergarten where they will learn to be productive people in society.

What age should you begin? Children start learning when they are born Read to children right away Children learn more when they are young As toddlers and infants Singing and speaking to your children “Research suggests that children’s problems tend to multiply with age, therefore the most efficient time to set a child on a positive path is at a young age” -Jalongo

What should children know before entering elementary school The orientation of a book Should have read for many hours informal reading hours Speaking through complete sentences Knowledge of print and sounds
