Presentation transcript:

Brandon Mustin, James Sun, Serena Xu

 Victim: Louise Emerson, partner of architect firm: Worth, Klein, and Burshowski  July 14, 1998 in an underground parking garage  Recorded by a surveillance camera  Louise Emerson was helping a couple whose car wouldn't start.  When she returned to her car to get jumper cables she was hit on the head by a large, blunt object.  Suspects pushed Louise into her own car and drove away.  Suspect: William Klein, brother of Arthur Klein

 On July 19, 1998, Cicero Police Officer, Conner, was called to investigate a possible abandoned car (1978 Montecarlo, silver) parked outside of a laundry mat (Suds & Duds) located on the corner of Milner and Trotter Streets.  The store manager told Officer Conner that the car had not been moved from the current location for 5 days and nights.  Officer Conner conducted a visual inspection of the vehicle from the outside and observed dark red stains on the steering wheel, dash area, glove box, and door handle on the driver side. The car was impounded and towed to the Cicero garage for further forensic examination.

 Nobody filed a missing persons report for her.  Pale band on her finger indicates she usually wears a wedding ring or school ring.

 The rag found in the trunk of the car was found to have traces of chloroform, a chemical that causes dizziness, fatigue, and headaches when inhaled.  Vapor causes a profound narcosis. Mortality is 1 in 3000.

 Fingerprints from inside the vehicle, fast food wrappers, side mirror, trunk, door handles, steering wheel, and evidence bag matched the owner of the vehicle (William Klein).  No other discernible prints were identified.

 The victim’s cells were found at the scene of the crime.  Sperm found in the suspect’s car matches the suspect's DNA.

 Fibers from floorboard(1), and offices of Worth, Klein, and Burshowski (where Louise works) (2), and trunk(3) are very similar.  Sample #1: lots of red carpet containing traces of alcohol.  Sample # 2: trilobal nylon fibers are typically found in carpet used for high traffic areas  Sample #3: carpet fibers consist with fibers found in the architect firm in addition to silk fibers commonly found on a blouse or scarf

 Ten hairs were found from carpet in trunk; the hairs were damaged - did not fall out naturally  Sample of hair from car and hair from victim's hairbrush match

 Soil from car matches soil from suspect's garden  Soil found in interior looks like it is from a coastal area, possibly Gulf Coast of Texas  Sawdust was found in soil left by suspect; there is a nearby lumber yard

 Tall upper strokes are reaching towards goals and ambitions or, if they are very extended, there may be unrealistic expectations of what the person feels they must achieve  Wide spaces between words are saying - 'give me breathing space‘  Maybe she was doing better than him and he was jealous

 Low velocity spots indicate blood was dropping  Splatter stains indicate that blood was flying from a source  Traces of Type B negative blood from steering wheel, dash area, and glove box area matches Arthur Klein’s blood type  Testing indicates type A blood was on the seat and floorboard of the back seat of the car, and on the back window and in the trunk. This matches Louise Emerson's blood type.

 Louise Emerson was in a relationship with William Klein. Arthur Klein was jealous, and decided to kidnap her.  Evidence:  Possibly inebriated  Carpet fibers from their office  Blood matches Arthur Klein

 William Klein kidnapped her.  Evidence  Fingerprints  His car, carpet fibers could be from him visiting his brother or from Louise  Sperm in back of car and chloroform on rag indicates rape

 William and Arthur Klein worked together to kidnap Louise  Possible motive: She is becoming too successful  Evidence  Both are related to the crime scene – blood and fingerprints
