I first heard your song when I was watching the 1996 movie, Romeo + Juliet. I loved the lyrics and can relate. Prince: That’s cool:) I had written it for my movie Purple Rain. "When Doves Cry" is symbolic, you know? When somebody dreams of a dove crying, it means that their father is going to die. In "Purple Rain," the kid's father kills himself, hence the title of my song. I myself can relate to the song. Red Rose204: Yeah, didn’t your parents get divorced as a kid? They must have really slammed your ego hard, I hear it in your music, the moods like depressed, self-incriminating, and enamored. Prince: I wondered if I was becoming like them.
