Headlines-DO’s To write a good headline, try to… intrigue, inform, and invite the reader be professional use downstyle (first letter, proper nouns) use present tense use active verbs (subject+verb) left justify (don’t center it … ever*) use all available space**
Headlines-DO NOT To write a good headline, do NOT… use articles (the, an, a) use state of being verbs (is, are), whether linking or helping be redundant (repeat words) split prepositional phrases between lines
