1. A carefully formulated explanation supported by data is: 1. A postulate. 2. An hypothesis. 3. A scientific theory. 4. A fact.

2. After a scientist formulates a hypothesis, the scientist: 1. Tries to prove it. 2. Tests it. 3. Publishes it. 4. Assumes it is true.

3. Population genetics tells us that mutations: 1. Have no effect on survival. 2. May be good, bad or neutral. 3. Are caused by natural selection. 4. Are always very dangerous.

4. How do we define “fitness” in evolution science? 1. Being bigger or stronger. 2. Having more offspring. 3. Gathering more food. 4. Producing more sex cells.

5. What is true about scientific knowledge? 1. It can change over time. 2. Once proven, it never changes. 3. It is entirely the product of logic. 4. It does not require evidence.
