National Curriculum There are changes to the content of all subjects in the national curriculum. A summary can be found on the Department for Education website. In maths, children will be expected to learn more at an earlier age - for example to know their 12 times table by the age of nine History will take a more chronological approach than under the old curriculum In English, pupils will learn more Shakespeare and there will be more importance placed on spelling The new computing curriculum will require pupils to learn how to write code In science, there will be a shift towards hard facts and "scientific knowledge“ Generally, the new curriculum is more content-focused and less skills-based

Assessment at Tudor Children assessed in age-related bands Band 2 = Year 2; Band 5 = Year 5 Each band separated into six steps: Beginning/Beginning Plus Working Within/Working Within Plus Secure/Secure Plus As with most schools, children will stay in their age related band and will only move up to the higher year band in exceptional circumstances
Assessment at Tudor
We will be sending home data sheets four times a year; one of which will make up part of the annual teacher’s report Most children will start the year working in the previous year’s band and should be at the age-related band by the summer term
