 Roofs – check for damaged or missing shingles  Gutters – have to have leaves cleaned out  Downspouts – connect to gutters to carry water away from the foundation of the house  Roofs & drainage systems should be checked every six months

 Carpet – should be vacuumed weekly to prolong the life of the carpet  Upholstery – a sofa/chair should be vacuumed and folds should be checked for small articles  Walls/floors –  A small, thick rug should be shook out to clean it Kitchen shelves/drawers should be cleaned out monthly

 Walls – repair holes with spackling compound  Repair faded/peeling wallpaper by removing  Plumbing – when using chemical drain cleaners to unclog a drain, use as directed as chemicals harm skin/eyes

 Electrical – Turn off power before attempting any electrical repairs  A leaking faucet can usually be repaired by replacing worn washers

 Filters – change filters regularly to keep air conditioning and heating working efficiently  Weather stripping – put around windows and doors to keep air from escaping

 Warranties – a written promise of quality and service of a product  Full – a warranty that covers all the cost of repairs  Limited – a warranty that covers some cost of repairs  Extended –additional fee to extend the time frame of the warranty
