the first step of the Scientific Method

What is Purpose or Question? Main

an educated guess that answers your question.

What is hypothesis? Main

A list of directions for testing your idea or hypothesis through a controlled investigation

What is procedure or experiment? Main

the information collected as you perform your experiment

What is results or data? Main

the final summary

What is conclusion? Main

A procedure used by scientists to test hypotheses by making predictions about the outcome of an experiment before the experiment is performed.

What is the Scientific Method? Main

elements that do not change particular sample that is treated the same as all the rest of the samples except that it is not exposed to manipulated variables

What is the control? Main

elements that will change

What are variables? Main

A way of showing observations Bar, Pie Chart, etc.

What are graphs? Main

Mr. Krabs created a secret ingredient for a breath mint that he thinks will “cure” the bad breath people get from eating crabby patties at the Krusty Krab. He asked 100 customers with a history of bad breath to try his new breath mint. He had fifty customers (Group A) eat a breath mint after they finished eating a crabby patty. The other fifty (Group B) also received a breath mint after they finished the crabby patty sandwich, however, it was just a regular breath mint and did not have the secret ingredient. Both groups were told that they were getting the breath mint that would cure their bad breath. Two hours after eating the crabby patties, thirty customers in Group A and ten customers in Group B reported having better breath than they normally had after eating crabby patties. Group B

Which people are in the control group? Main

What is a bird? Main

What is a mammal? Main

What is an amphibian? Main

What is a reptile? Main

What is a fish? Main

The plants at the bottom of the food chain

What are producers? Main

Anything that eats

What are consumers? Main

Animals that eat meat

What are carnivores? Main

Animals that eat only plants

What are herbivores? Main

Animals that eat both plants and animals

What are omnivores? Main

The process in which plants make their own food

What is photosynthesis? Main

Carbon Dioxide, water, and sunlight

What do plants need to make their own food (for photosynthesis)? Main

Oxygen and sugar (glucose)

What are the products of photosynthesis? Main

Plants use this type of energy to make their own food.

What is light energy? Main

The name for plants at the bottom of the food pyramid.

What are producers? Main

Make your wager

Organisms that eat

What are consumers?
