Earthquakes & hurricanes By : Deavian foster Class : 5H

What is an earthquake? A earthquake is a shaking of the earths crust and is a geological phenomenon . Earthquakes can cause intense vibration of the ground, soil liquefaction, and distortion of the ground. Earthquakes can happen almost anywhere but are most common along the boundaries of the tectonic plates. Earthquakes are primarily caused of movement of the tectonic plates. It lasts more than a few seconds.

Fun facts about earthquake!!!!!!!!! Natural events such as volcanic eruptions and meteor impact can cause earthquakes, but the majority of naturally – occurring earthquakes triggered by movement of the earths plates. The earths surface consists of constantly moving plates. Each year southern California area has about 10,000 earthquakes – the majority of which go unnoticed

What is a hurricane? A hurricane is a huge storm ! It mainly comes from the centre of the ocean . There are many city’s a hurricane has hit like California.

Fun facts about hurricanes!!!!!!! Hurricanes usually form in the tropical areas of the world. Hurricanes lose strength as they move over land. The eye of a hurricane can be anywhere from 2 miles ( 3.2 kilometres ) in diameter to over 200 miles ( 320 kilometres ) but they are usually around 30 miles ( 48 kilometres ). As well as violent winds and heavy rain, hurricanes can also create tornadoes, high weaves and widespread flooding .

Where do hurricanes and earthquakes hit. Hurricanes most often hit the pacific ocean the Atlantic ocean the eastern pacific ocean the south pacific ocean and the Indian ocean. In the united states, hurricanes from the Atlantic ocean are more likely to make land fall, most frequently in north Carolina and Florida . Earthquakes hit Nepal and Japan most of the time.
