ESDS Government One of four specialist services of ESDS. ESDS is a national data service (since Jan 03) –ESDS Government –ESDS Longitudinal –ESDS Qualidata –ESDS International ESDS Government provides access and user support for key large-scale government surveys such as General Household Survey and Labour Force Survey Access remains via the UKDA. User support based at Centre for Census and Survey Research (CCSR), University of Manchester

Resources for the GHS (6) Helpdesk: Straightforward: E.g. what does 'na hours' stands for in the variable 'wkstate'? Complex: E.g Why are there big changes in frequencies between same variables in early years? Plus, queries about occupational coding from 1980s and 1990s. Documentation not as good for earlier years. Liaison with ONS: User could not find ETHNIV variable which contained 9 or 10 categories. We contacted ONS who said that it should be available and they added it to the data.
