WHAT TRIGGERED THE CONFLICT BETWEEN RUSSIA AND JAPAN? Tsar Nicholas II declared war on Japan they both were imperialist powers and also they were fighting for Korea. Japan was the first to strike an attack. The conflict was that Japan attack and destroy the warship. japan wanted to control Korea and Manchuria. Japan was running out of men and money at the same time and they didn’t want Russia to find out that main fact.

WHY WAS THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PANAMA CANAL IMPORTANT? HOW WAS IT AN IMPERIAL ACT? It was important because it was a shortcut between Atlantic ocean and pacific ocean. And it also they reduce travel time for commercial and military ships. Made it easy to take over a country ( ex: Panama) The United States signed a treaty that pay Panama 10 million an also a annual rent for 250,000 for a land across Panama call the canal zone. This payment started in The united states help panama over throw there ruler, and also helped organize a Panamanian rebellion against Colombia. On November about a dozen US warships went when Panama declared independence.

WHAT IS ROOSEVELT COROLLARY TO THE MONROE DOCTRINE? If we don’t get what we want we can send our military to Latin America and get what we want from them.

WHAT IS MEANT BY “BIG STICK” DIPLOMACY Was a threat to Monroe Doctrine It also meant that if we don’t get what we want we are force to use our military.
