MADIERA – WP7 – DISSEMINATION

Objectives ”Disseminate the results of the project to the wider research community to both raise awareness and use and to encourage the creation of everything from full knowledge products to simple enhancements to the metadata.”

Person-months FSD 6, NSD 2, UKDA 2, NL 2, DDA 1, EKKE 1, ZA 1 (15)

Deliverables M6 Dissemination plan M19 User guides and training packs for adding specific ’knowledge products’ On-going dissemination events as defined in the plan (every half a year)

Expected result Production of deliverables Researcher awareness & use of the platform & added content (system of choice)

Target groups Data producers Data brokers Social science information providers Data Users: researchers, students, other data consumers

The strategy

Co-operation and networking Co-opreation and division of labour with other workpackages (WP6, WP8) National dissemination plans and actions by a dissemination contact person network (member archives, candidates, other)  multilingual dissemination Networking with other major social science support infrastrutures (information gateways) in order to get maximum visibility in the long run Finding and creating the most efficient dissemination routes: National level: Research Councils, Universities and Research Institutes, Scientific Associations (seminars, publications) etc. International level: Scientific Associations (conferences, publications), research programmes, support organisations etc.

Critical points Speed and timing Dissemination of ideas / products Need for direct/indirect and general/tailored dissemination efforts? Cost/benefit ratio and division of labour? Events and an ongoing process

First steps Outlining the dissemination plan Dissemination plan (M6 = May 2003) –dissemination contact person network –first draft march 2003, comments by April 2003 –content: guidelines for international and national dissemination activities, plan for specific dissemination events The first dissemination event
