Decade Project – 7 th grade Literacy Technology

Do you know… what the Decades Project is?

You must make a CLEAR decision on your DECADE AND CATEGORY What is your decade ? What is your category ? o Famous People ? o Popular Culture ? o Historical/Significant Events ? o Inventions ?

What is a decade? scandals/u/timelines.htm

Decades Scavenger Hunt Go to the 7 th grade Lit Tech web page and click on Decades Scavenger Hunt. Choose a decade and begin looking for the answers to complete the scavenger hunt. When you’re done, please print your scavenger hunt and place it in the black basket.

So, you have your Decade and Category, now what? Research Outline!! Who is a famous person (ONE) in your category? What is one (1) important event in your category? What is the most important impact or result of your category on the world?

How does this work? First, I take my Research Outline and complete the 3 topics o Famous Person o Important Event o Impact or Result on the world Then, I find a SOURCE (Lone Star website, book, etc.) Next, I READ – looking for information about: o Famous Person o Important Event o Impact or Result on the world

What do I do when I find information? Research Outline! Write down “brief” information on what you find o 1. o 2. o 3. Write down the “source” (the website, the name and volume of the encyclopedia, the name of the book, etc.) COMPLETE THE OUTLINE FIRST!

My outline is complete… Time to READ and find out details As you READ take notes on each topic using a separate sheet of paper. Staple these notes to your outline. Write down the SOURCE

Let’s Review Decade? Check! Topic? Check! Famous person in my Topic? Check! Important event in my Topic? Check! Impact/Result on the World? Check! Sources written down? Check! Take notes? Check and Double Check! Ready to write my 1 st draft!!!!
