SCULPTURE

WHAT IS SCULPTURE? SCULPTURE is a 3-Dimensional artwork which may be made through different processes such as carving, modeling, assembling or casting. It may be executed as free-standing object, in relief, or in environment. A variety of media may be used, including clay, fabric, metal, plaster, plastic, porcelain, wax, wood, rubber, stone, found objects and other synthetic or fabricated materials.

Different methods in sculpture CARVING a sculpture is created by removing excess material on a medium (wood, ivory or stone) in order to create desired shape.

MODELING The act or art of sculpting in pliable material such as clay or wax to create desired shape.

ASSEMBLING is a form of sculpture comprise of found objects arranged in such a way that they create piece.

CASTING is a process by which a liquid material is usually poured into a mold, which contains a hallow cavity of the desired shape and then allowed to solidify.

TYPES OF SCULPTURE RELIEF Is a sculpture where figures are projected from a flat background.

INSTALLATION ART Is created within a specific site. It is usually large scale. The site becomes just as important as the sculpture as far as the concept is concerned.

LAND ART, EARTHWORKS or EARTHART Is an art movement in which landscape and the work of art are inextricably linked. An art form that is created in nature using natural resources.

Sculpture are not placed in the landscape rather the landscape is the means of their creation.
