What is a property? In math, properties are basic building blocks of math. They are rules that are always true with every type of number. Knowledge of number properties will help you with every level of math.

Red, yellow, and purple shirts – Associative Property I’m still working on organizing my closet. I’m trying to arrange my colored shirts. I could group red and purple together, and yellow separately. Or, I could have red separate and group purple and yellow together.

Two Different Shelves- Distributive Property I still working on organizing my shirts. Now I’m trying to decide whether to put them on one shelf or divide them between two shelves. I could have one with 3 red and two yellow shirts 1(3 +2) OR I could have one shelf with 3 red and one shelf with 2 yellow (1 x 3) + (1 x 2)
