SIR SYED AHMED KHAN SIR SYED AHMED KHAN SET UP A SCHOOL IN ALIGARH IN 1875 THIS THEN BECAME MOHAMMEDAN ANGLO ORIENTAL COLLEGE (MAO) MOHAMMEDAN ANGLO ORIENTAL COLLEGE NOW IS KNOWN AS (AMU) (AMU) STANDS FOR ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY HE WANTED THE MUSLIMS TO GET ENGLISH AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION THIS WOULD HELP THEM IN PROGRESSING FORWARD EARN MONEY AND RESPECT LIKE OTHER COMMUNITIES AND BECOME PROFESSIONALS WHAT RAJA RAM MOHAN ROY DID FOR THE HINDUS SIR SYED AHMED KHAN DID FOR THE MUSLIMS

SIR SYED AHMED KHAN A GREAT SOCIAL REFORMER WHO ADVOCATED AMONG THE MUSLIMS REMOVAL OF POLYGAMY, INCREASE THE MARRIAGEABLE AGE, REINTERPRETED ISLAM AND SUBSCRIBED TO ENGLISH EDUCATION. HE WANTED THE MUSLIMS TO REMAIN LOYAL TO THE BRITISH TO THRIVE FOR WHICH HE WAS GIVEN THE TITLE ‘ LOYALIST OF LOYALISTS ’. HE MAINTAINED THAT BY BEING LOYAL TO THE BRITISH THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY WOULD GET THE BENEFITS AND IMPROVE.

SIR SYED AHMED KHAN SET UP UNITED INDIA PATRIOTIC ASSOCIATION IN 1888 WITH RAJA SHIVPRASAD OF BENARAS TO WORK AGAINST THE CONGRESS AND THE MOHAMEDDAN ANGLO ORIENTAL DEFENCE ASSOCIATION IN 1893. HOWEVER HIS MIND WAS POISONED BY THE BRITISH PRINCIPAL OF MAO COLLEGE MR. THEODORE BECK. MR. BECK MADE SIR SYED AHMED KHAN REALISE THAT THE POLITICAL OBJECTIVES OF THE HINDUS AND MUSLIMS COULD NEVER BE THE SAME. BUT ANGLO-MUSLIM UNITY WAS POSSIBLE.

ON 1ST OCTOBER 1906 LORD MINTO THE BRITISH VICEROY BADRUDDIN TYABJI ANOTHER MUSLIM SOCIAL REFORMER ON 1ST OCTOBER 1906 LORD MINTO THE BRITISH VICEROY ENCOURAGED THE MUSLIMS TO MEET WITH A SET OF DEMANDS FOR THE MUSLIMS UNDER AGHA KHAN. THIS WAS KNOWN AS THE SHIMLA CONFERENCE. THE BRITISH HAD NOW BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN PLAYING DIVISIVE POLITICS BY INSTIGATING AND ENCOURAGING THE MUSLIMS TO COME UP WITH A SEPARATE SET OF DEMANDS.THEY HAD SUCCEEDED IN PLAYING THE MINORITY CARD ON THE SHOULDER OF THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY AND ALIENATED THEM FROM THE HINDUS.
