Ancient China Objectives: 1. Investigate historical sites and traditions in China that give China its cultural identity. 2. Create an imaginary story/product using the information you learn about the sites/traditions of Ancient China

Assignment Requirements 1. Collect your information: 2. When you have collected all your information and completed all 6 of your missions, you will choose ONE of the 6 missions, and create a PowerPoint that highlights all the information you collected on that mission.

Mission 1 You are a member of the Mongolian Spy Group (MSG). Your leader, Nissan Quest is planning a southern invasion of your bitter rivals- the Chinese. Nissan Quest has heard rumors of a great construction project involving some type of large wall on the southern border with China. He is afraid this wall will hamper his invasion plans. He needs you to journey to the border and report back to him on the most important aspects of the wall. The success of the invasion depends on you. It is your mission to bring back as much important information as possible about the Great Wall.

Mission 2 Your leader Nissan Quest was very pleased with the information you collected on the Great Wall. He has decided to grant you the honor of a second mission. For years, Nissan has wanted to gain access to the lucrative silk trade. He must know how the Chinese have become so successful. Your second mission is to spy on the traders as they journey across the Silk Road and report back to the emperor on the most important aspects of the Silk Road. Good luck. The Empire’s economic well being is in your hands. You must bring back only the most important information.

Nissan needs this information as soon as possible to complete his invasion plans. To help speed up your mission, the emperor only needs the most important information about the Forbidden City. Mission 4 Great work on the Forbidden City. Unfortunately, one of China’s most famous philosophers has escaped. However, he has sent a letter to Nissan Quest promising to share his teachings. As a trusted member of Nissan Mongolian Spy Group, you have been chosen to journey to Confucius’ hiding place and bring information back home about his belief system. Collect information on what this Chinese philosopher believed in. You must hurry. Nissan is anxious to hear what this Chinese philosopher has to say.

There are several Buddhists Monks living in Xian. Travel to this ancient city and collect as much important information on the philosophy known as Buddhism.
