How Consistent is Your World View? ( All your presuppositions together) Creation by God & Bible is True (belief in the Bible, and science) Naturalism, Empiricism, Atheism ( Nature is all that there is, all knowledge is gained by observation, there is no God) Pantheism, Buddhism, Some Hinduism (physical reality & morals are an illusion)

Great Philosophers –Math. Plato, Aristotle, Newton, Bacon, Descartes, Leibniz, Kant, Frege, Russell, Einstein They all either believed in God or in universals truths explaining math and logic Stated that the laws of logic and mathematics are inter-related and extend throughout the universe and are abstract Most philosophers discuss morals and ethics as important. However their basis for these becomes weak, absent God

Naturalism, Evolution Cannot account for the laws of logic and math, Human Consciousness, Memory reliability, Uniformity of Laws in Nature How can all the above occur by chance? Can’t account for true morals and ethics Are often inconsistent when lived out

5 Observational Science 01160

6 Historical Science (Beliefs/Interpretations about the past)

Three Possibilities 1. The Universe created itself 2. The Universe has always existed 3. The Universe was created In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Characteristics of the Universe The universe had a beginning and cause - created by an outside being at a specific time The universe shows design- many fine tuned scientific constants for life, complex order Part of the universe has personality and creative genius-man, great beauty-nature The many laws of the universe are mathematical and sustained for a time* There is a gradation in morals and beauty

Characteristics of God from Logic Timeless, nonspacial, self-existent, immaterial all powerful-he created time, space and matter Supremely intelligent, purposeful, personal – as he created all life in its coordinated forms Morally pure as he set the highest moral standards, also the source of all beauty Spiritual, Eternal, One who controls all

Biblical World View Microevolution= small changes in species We all believe Macroevolution= molecules to man evolution and tree of all life Only evolutionist’s believe Biblical Kinds allow for variation in kinds DNA is huge mental information code Biogenesis= Life only comes form life

Peter Kreeft, Prof. of Philosophy at Boston College offered 20 arguments for God’s existence (monotheism) When taken in total, the 20 arguments make a strong case for God’s existence He also states that the philosophy’s of empiricism, naturalism and atheism are weak and inconsistent logically Although God is not clearly proven from philosophy; He is very probable. It is very difficult to disprove God and a better case can be made for being agnostic (I don’t know) than atheistic (no God) Also skepticism (we can know nothing) goes against common sense and is not practical to use

Nietzsche Philosophy Source Magee, B. Morals based on Greek Philosophy and Judeo- Christian Traditions Are Wrong* Societies are best that eliminate the weak and stupid and encourage the powerful This philosophy was widely quoted and used by Hitler. This fits with his evolutionary idea of forming the super race. Mussolini agreed and he and Hitler both controlled the press and conquered.

Information Science Definition- Information is a message # received and understood. It is also a code with meaning for an action or purpose UDI *message It is not a star, a snowflake, or random numbers or letters It is a book, formula, song, or a DNA code It is a nonmaterial entity like the laws of logic or It has an author or sender

Q 574a Gitt A code system is always the result of a mental process (it requires an intelligent origin or inventor)… It should be emphasized that matter as such is unable to generate any code. All experiences indicate that a thinking being voluntarily exercising his own free will, cognition, and creativity, is required. Q 574a

Evidence: Evolution or the Bible Origin of the universe Origin of life Laws of Logic, Math Information Science Evolution Bible
