Greek Excellence Program 2008 Tau Kappa Epsilon

Academic Success We have increased our chapter GPA to 2.3. Our Chapter intends to keep improving our GPA through student tutoring programs as well as public recognition for good grades. We keep a record of all member GPAs and address individual problems as they arise. We have previously defined punishments for lacking academic performance. We have a program that rewards good grades with incentives such as opportunities for substantial scholarships.

Academic Success (Continued) We require at least a 2.0 GPA in order to be considered for membership. Our Chaplain is our Scholarship Chair. He keeps a record of all academic information. Our faculty advisor is the head of the Honors Program. Dr. Nikolova receives a letter notifying her of all chapter business. We have several brothers on Deans List, in the Honors Program and in Alpha Lambda Delta Freshmen Honors Society.

Values Integration and Development Our organization values men who have strong mental, moral and social characteristics. We encourage these values through membership participation in chapter functions and decisions. Our Chapter has a set code of conduct in place that must be adhered to. If any member does not adhere to said code of conduct there are consequences. We have a Regional Leadership Conference that we regularly attend as well as Semester Retreats and Brotherhood Events.

Leadership Development The Zeta Nu Chapter encourages our members to participate in outside organizations. We recognize our members who have gained leadership positions in other organizations. We currently have brothers in SIFE, Student Class Representatives in The Honors Student Association, a member of Beta Alpha Psi Business Honor Society, and members of Alpha Lambda Delta Freshmen Honors Society. We annually send at least 8 representatives to the Regional Leadership Conference held by the National Office.

Leadership Development (Continued) We integrate Chapter decisions into chairs and committees, which gives new members a chance to gain leadership experience. Our Chapter attends the Regional Leadership Conference as well as the Leadership Academy hosted by our National Office. We send an informative letter to all members, alumni and our faculty advisor. This letter includes a member report, statement of chapter activities and a financial outline.

Inter-Greek Relations Our Chapter has participated in 90% of all IFC events. This includes sports tournaments, philanthropies and social events held by other Greek Organizations as well as campus. We have also hosted multiple social events with NPHC Greek Organizations. We participate in almost all IFC events, as previously stated. This includes Formal Rush, IFC Meetings and IFC Sports Leagues. We also have an IFC Chair who notifies us of all IFC events.

Inter-Greek Relations (Continued) Our Chapter contributes to the campus’s multicultural climate in many ways. One being that we have a very diverse brother hood. Another way being that we host events with other organizations are culturally diverse. We have a program called Life Loyal TEKE. Life Loyal Teke is a program of the Fraternity, whose purpose is to gain commitments from each alumnus to support the Vision, Mission, and Purpose of Tau Kappa Epsilon. Our Chapter has an appointed Risk Management Chair. His job is to asses all risk tha the chapter takes on as well as to host seminars within the chapter to inform each member of risk management techniques.

Campus And Community Relations The Zeta Nu Chapter serves the Valdosta State University Community by participating in such programs as VSU Relay For Life, Taking Back the Night and My Brother’s Keeper. We also support VSU Athletics, Intramurals, and the Fine Arts Programs. Members of our Chapter volunteer at Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill, The Fur Ball, Toys for Tots, The Azalea Festival, The Humane Society, The Lowndes County Sheriffs Halloween Festival and The Food Bank (We also have members on the board at the Food Bank). We donate resources to SIFE. We also have members who volunteer at S.L. Mason Elementary School. During Christmas we donated presents to an entire class of underprivileged children.

Campus and Community Relations (Continued) Our Chapter supports our national philanthropy, The Ronald Regan Alzheimer’s Foundation, through fundraisers such as the Valdosta Alzheimer’s Walk and the TKE Car Bash. Our Chapter establishes a positive campus and community relationship by conducting ourselves in a way that reinforces a positive relationship.
