COLLEGE OPEN DAYS

 Ask yourself why you are going to an Open Day?  What do you want to find out?  Have you read the prospectus?  Have you prepared questions?

 There are large crowds at open days so arrive early!  Have your questions prepared …  Bring a notebook and pen (or your smartphone!)  Take down names of lectures you meet or representatives from departments so you have contacts later …  Get exact information on the course(s) you like

 Talk to students who are studying the course(s) you are interested in …  No question is too silly! In fact it is more silly not to ask any question!  You are free to move around from stand to stand, so take your time and allow yourself to get all the information you need  Listen to other questions being asked too!

DO …  Prepare  Read the prospectus  Ask questions  Take notes  Get contacts  Familiarise yourself with the campus, lecture theatres, clubs and societies, mardyke arena, student centre, accommodation services DON’T  Arrive late  Arrive unprepared  Let others attend for you (i.e. your parents – come along with them)  Overload with questions or expect very long chats (it’s a very busy day!)

Make sure you go there PREPARED with QUESTIONS to ask and come home with ANSWERS and CONTACTS information!!
