Global trends for personal care Consumption of cosmetic and toiletries is not restricted to women, but also man. Global demand of natural and organic cosmetic and personal care products is significantly growing, particularly for sustainably sourced natural ingredients. Europe: market grew by 11.7% (2009 to 2010), expected to reach €6 bn by Asia expected sales growth of $16.2 billion by 2015 (14% growth rate since 2005). II. The BioTrade Initiative of UNCTAD

What is BioTrade? BioTrade refers to those activities of collection, production, transformation, and commercialization of goods and services derived from native biodiversity (species &ecosystems) under the criteria of environmental, social and economic sustainability. 1.Conservation of biodiversity 2.Sustainable use of biodiversity 3.Fair and equitable sharing of benefits derived from the use of biodiversity 4.Socio-economic sustainability 5.Compliance with national and international regulations 6.Respect for the rights of actors involved in BioTrade activities 7.Clarity about land tenure, use and access to natural resources and knowledge Principles
