THINGS TO CONSIDER 1. Standardised tests 2. Examiners

Standardised tests 1. The final tests course objectives: Teach: 4 skills Assess: mostly 2-3 skills 2. Test design & development: Copy Compile Finalise

Examiners Examiner training is ignored: Speaking - PET - FCE - IELTS, etc. Writing - no sample marking - 1 round marking subjectiveness

Solutions 3. Training Workshop- Sample tests video clips - Google.docs for writing examiners Suggestions How ICT jumps in 1. Change the testing format- Listening: The studio for designing listening tests - Reading: software for evaluating reading texts - Speaking: lab, voice recorder 2. Standardized test design & development procedure Test evaluation after trial: use SPSS to measure the validity, reliability,...

A suggested procedure for Writing Examiner Training (using Google Docs) 20 teachers 1. Divide teachers into groups of 5 (4 groups A, B, C, D) 2. A set of 5 pieces of sample writing by learners are shared among 4 groups. 3. Each group work together on marking discussions to make the final decisions. 4. Groups compare their own final marks. 5. Final marks with comments on the writings given by well-trained examiners are shown to all groups. 6. Practice with another set of writings.
