Using JUSP to help with the SCONUL return Angela Conyers Evidence Base, Birmingham City University

SCONUL questions D7. Full-text article requests (COUNTER JR1 or equivalent) (Strategic Planning data) C16. Total number of serial titles D13. Number of downloads of items in the institutional repository during the year

JUSP SCONUL returns report gives number of full-text article requests (COUNTER JR1) for participating publishers for the academic year 1 August-31 July For more information see the Guides to individual reports - SCONUL returns - port/sconul.html D7. Full-text article requests (COUNTER JR1 or equivalent )

Check that all usage data for August 2012 to July 2013 are present: Look at your Welcome screen Click on the ‘Your data’ tab at the top Check that you have green ticks against each publisher for each month Aug 2012-July 2013 Click on the ‘publisher information’ tab Check where there are issues with some publishers that affect data collection Before you start

SCONUL returns report Select SCONUL returns from the drop- down menu Select publisher ‘All’ Select year ( for the current report) Click on submit

SCONUL return: total usage for an academic year (1 Aug-31 July)

The first column (Direct JR1) is the one to use for the SCONUL return Add in extra rows for data from other publishers not included in JUSP Add totals for gateways and hosts using the JR1 figures downloaded from their sites as totals for these are not available in JUSP Get a final total to include in D7 Completing D7 – number of full-text article requests

The report ‘List all deals and title counts’ shows the number of titles included in each of the deals or collections for publishers in JUSP. This will help you with some of the detail for questions C9-C15 on number of serial titles and for arriving at the total required in C16 For more information see the Guides to individual reports nts.html Note: this is intended as a guide only – exact number of titles may vary C16 Total number of serial titles

Download ‘list all titles and deals counts’ as CSV file Select the deals you take and delete all others Add in all other deals you take and number of titles in each Get a total Transfer total to the SCONUL return How many titles?
