1.Career= What do I plan to with my life? 2. Problem=You are unsure 3. Why are you unsure = Insufficient information 4. Knowledge = Power 5. Solution = Figure out what you need, then gather and analyze that information using a decision making process

Step 1. Identify the Decision to be Made What do I want to do? First you need to know- What’s Careers are out there? Action (Complete a Career Direction Inventory) Now what do you want to be based on the careers presented? Where do I want to go in life with the careers presented? Do you need college to get where I want to go?

Step 2. Know Yourself (Self Assessment) Skills Interest Values Personality *Assessment tools: JROTC Success Profiler and Career Inventory

Step 3. Begin identifying options What are my career options? List them. Are there reasons why these options may not be good ones? (use points to weight your interest in each career option) CareerBene fits Skill s InterestVal ues Pers onali ty lo c Business Computers Social WK Medical Military

Step 4: Gather Information and Data Examine the info you already have Identify what additional information you need Seek out and utilize new information

Step 5: Evaluate options that could be a solution ID al the pros and cons of each alternative ID the personal values and needs that are satisfied by each alternative ID the risk involved with each alternative Project the probable future consequences of selecting each alternative

Step 6: Select One of the options Do you have enough information to make an informed decision? If not, what information do you need?

Step 7: Design a Course of Action to implement your decision What steps are needed to implement my decision? When should I begin and end each step? What are the obstacles to obtaining my goal and how can I overcome them? What information and resources do I need to complete each step
