 In chapter 17, Percy, Grover, and Annabeth arrived in Los Angles at the Santa Monica beach. Percy went into the beach and grabbed onto a mako shark that took him deep into the ocean. There he talked to a Nereid that gave him some advice and gave him three pearls to use in case of a emergency.

 After Percy came out of the ocean the three of them walked around L.A. looking for DOA Recording Studio. They ran into a couple of gang members that Percy tried to fight of with his sword, but that ended up back firing. Which ended up making them run into a Waterbed store.

 Inside of “Crusty’s Waterbed Palace” they found a little old man. He forced Annabeth to sit on a bed, but right after he made ropes come out and strapped Grover and Annabeth to the beds. He wanted to stretch them to be six foot. Till Percy started distracting the owner and tricked him. Percy helped them out of the water beds before it was to late.
