Job-office: service of supported employment

History 1997 :‘supported employment’ started in Feniks. We recognized that some of the clients could do more than their work in the day centre of Feniks. Step by step Feniks tried to support clients into a job on the labour-market. 2009: joboffice of feniks en regenboog are working together as one service.

Goal Supported employment wants to support people with a handicap who want to work voluntary within a normal working environment, outside the protected walls of care. –Individual question of a client –Real work To achieve a better quality of life.

Target group Persons who want to work, but cannot cope with the pressure and responsibility of ‘normal or regular’ work. Different people with different kinds of handicaps.

Characteristics Supported employment gives a chance to be active engaged within the society. Personal/individual support Social integration Social network

Method Intake By the first announcement; the jobcoach takes notice of the basic information (name, address, …) and makes an appointment to a further introduction.

Method … Assessment introduction of the method of supported employment The jobcoach makes a profile of the interests and the competences of the client

Method… Job finding Based on the profile of the client the jobcoach starts to search for a possible job. When the jobcoach finds an interested employer, he makes an analyse of the possible tasks

Method… Job matching When there is a positive matching between the profile of the client and the profile of the possible job, the next step can be made : acquaintance between the client and the employer.

Probation A very important aspect of supported employment is ‘ the training-on-the-job’. Method…

Evaluation At the end of the probation, there is an official evaluation between the different members. The result shows whether the engagement can go on.

Method Follow-up To guarantee the success of the job on the long term is it necessary to give as long as need a follow-up support : visits at work, evaluations, …
