CNM Context Matera, February 4-5, 20092ASI-Eumetsat Meeting

CNM Missions RADARSAT 1 OCEANSAT-2 ALOS ENVISAT RADARSAT 2 (only antenna RF compatibility) AQUA TERRA AURA (only antenna RF compatibility) SAC-D Meteosat MSG2 PRISMA (upcoming, covered by a different contract) Matera, February 4-5, 20093ASI-Eumetsat Meeting

CNM Features High level of Automation on the systematic activities Data-Driven working mode: facilities have automatic and autonomous internal working mode, waking up as a new input is available and not triggered by an event driven schedule. Expandability, with full Software Approach in Direct Ingestion Scalability of processing power and storage capacity Modularity of components, as much as possible independent from each other Use of COTS Matera, February 4-5, 20094ASI-Eumetsat Meeting

CNM Logical View Matera, February 4-5, 20095ASI-Eumetsat Meeting

CNM Subsystems Functional Overview The Antenna (ANT) Subsystem, that integrates the CFI Antenna with CNM extensions and basement. The Reception, Archive and Distribution (RAED) Subsystem, in charge of: Receiving satellite downstream from the antenna and generate raw data. Receiving data/products from external via media and/or network. Archive acquired, received and processed data; provide them to the processing system. Distribute products to end-users (both institutional and private) on media and or network. Feed the User Interaction Subsystem with inventoried metadata and quick looks. Implement data mining techniques to define and extract higher level features from EO products. The Processing Subsystem (PS), integrating higher level instrument science processors. Processing Infrastructure (Thin Layer) Level 0 Processing Quick Look Processing Level 1 / Level 2 Processing The User Interaction Subsystem (UIS), providing all end-user web-based interfaces for: Catalogue browsing and navigation Interoperability services Product generation orders management Product distribution orders management Help desk User management Online Navigation Facility Matera, February 4-5, 20096ASI-Eumetsat Meeting

Reception, Archiving & Distribution S/S (RAED) Matera, February 4-5, 20097ASI-Eumetsat Meeting

RAED Facilities Direct Ingestion System, the facility in charge of capture and real time processing of satellite telemetry. Archiving Facility, the facility in charge of: hosting the Storage Archives; according to exigencies, the archives can be configured as rolling or long term. Receiving Level 0, Level 1, Level 2, Support Data and production and observation requests, Storing (a sub set) of incoming data into system database from where it allows retrieval from other facilities, Format data into internal CNM format and push them to the CNM system Archiving facility Hosting the master catalogue, containing the Acquisition and Products inventory Data Reception & Transcription Facility, the facility in charge of: Receive auxiliary files, products via media or via electronic link (WAN), Distribute products to User either on media or via electronic link (WAN) Monitoring & Control Facility, the distributed M&C facility in the CNM system Data Mining Support Facility, the facility hosting data mining and feature extraction services, including learning interaction with experienced users. Matera, February 4-5, 20098ASI-Eumetsat Meeting

Level 1 / Level 2 Processor Matera, February 4-5, ASI-Eumetsat Meeting

User Interaction Subsystem (UIS) Matera, February 4-5, ASI-Eumetsat Meeting

UIS Functions The User Interaction System (UIS) is built around a classical three tier solution, with an Help Desk (HDE), one front end component, the Catalog Client (CC), communicating via web services with the middle layer, composed by: the User Service Manager (USM), devoted to users management and access control; the Order Handling (OH), for end user orders acquisition, execution and control the Catalog Server (CS), devoted to catalog navigation, browsing and query; the Interoperability Server (IS) that acts as bridge toward the local production master catalog and external interoperable catalogues (Cosmo SkyMed and ESA MUIS product catalogue). The On-line Navigation Facility (ONF) component, provides fast and high quality product browsing via a dedicated streaming plug-in in the WEB client interface.
