HHH network Activity for the next 18 months Walter Scandale CERN CARE 06 Frascati, 16 November 2006

Main deliverables Database for superconducting cable and magnets:  Manpower: a PhD student (part time) + summer students  Present status (40 % of the task completed): Basic kernel completed and documented Basic cable and magnet properties identified and organized for data storage Approach presented and discussed with several partner institutions during two ad hoc meetinsg of HHH-AMT  Next 18 months: Add more properties and query functionality Insert data from partner laboratories (CERN, Saclay, FNAL, LBNL, LLBL…) Hire 2 additional summer students for ancillary developments Push the achievement to 3/4 of the full tasks

Main deliverables Database for accelerator physics simulation codes:  Manpower: 2 summer students + one CERN staff (part-time)  Present status (3/4 of the task completed): Basic kernel completed and attached to the HHH web-page Collection of the existing codes almost exhausted Documentation in preparation, bench marking data available.  Next 18 months: Complete documentation Demonstrate its use in ad hoc meetings with partner laboratories 1 additional summer student for ancillary developments and bench marking Push the achievement to completion of the full tasks Database for IR and injector lattices  Manpower: two CERN staff (part-time)  Present status (1/4 of the task completed): Basic kernel for IR completed and attached to the HHH web-page  Next 18 months: Push the documentation of the IR and complete the task Continue the task of the injector lattices and push it to 1/2 of the completion

Future workshop and meetings  Annual meetings of each WP and of the full network  Contribution to LARP  WP1: AMT Thermomag workshop: thermo-dynamic of SC magnets and thermal removal Magnet design optimization: review of SC magnet in connection to NED  WP2: ABI One topic workshop  WP3: APD 3 topic workshops on crystal collimation Co-organization of one international conference on crystals D0/Q0 IR options: scrutiny and possible integration IR upgrade Increase of beam intensity: scenarios and limitations Optimal injector design for CERN and GSI E-cloud
