Exam Starts

2Prioritise Questions Spend first five min looking over paper Mark questions you are sure about – do these first Try to do “big” questions first

3Manage Time How much time do you have? How many marks are there in total? How many minutes per mark?

3Manage Time 2 hrs = 120 min Budget 5 min for start, 5 min for end => 110 min 70 marks total 110 / 70 = 1.6 min per mark

3Manage Time Stick to time constraints Set completion time for each question – don’t go over (eg. 5 marks => 8 min)

4Answering Questions Take time to read question carefully. Underline key words. What area of work is being tested? (exceptions? testing? ui design?)

4Answering Questions Understand what is being asked: –“Discuss”, “Explain”, “Describe” –“Give”, “List” –“Compare”, “What is the diff between….” –“Write”, “Rewrite”, “Code” –“Draw”, “Show” –“Calculate”, “Determine”, “Work out”, “Show”

4Answering Questions Try to be neat – write legibly. New page for each new question. Make sure that marker knows what to mark.

5During Exam After each question briefly check your working (don’t wast time) Then: –look up, –take a few deep breaths, –refocus, –start next question

6If you finish early Go back and finish questions you did not complete Check your working carefully, ensure you answered questions properly

7After Exam Relax and celebrate –you’ve done it!! Study for next exam….
